Holiday Make-up Tips with Cult Beauty

We’ve teamed up with CultBeauty.co.uk (beauty curators – rather than selling full beauty lines, they’ve focused on creating a shop where every item is chosen by an independent expert panel for its stand-alone brilliance) for their insider beauty knowledge on creating gorgeous holiday make up that won’t give you streaming panda eyes, or sticky shiny skin.

1. Beach Beauty

The three watchwords for your beach-bag are: light, waterproof and, of course, SPF. Jouer do a waterproof tinted moisturiser that illuminates your skin making it look wonderful in the sun, while also protecting with SPF 20 called Luminizing Moisture Tint.

When you are surrounded by sand the last thing you need to be doing is re-applying sticky lotions, this is when P20 is an absolute godsend, put it on in the morning before you leave the house and you are protected for the rest of the day, even after swimming. Another must-have for the beach bag is a tube of Pommade Divine Balm, a healing lip saviour that can also be used on burns and bites.

2. City Chic
Cities can be hellish in the summer months becoming a major heat-trap, so you need make-up that’s going to stay firmly in place all day. Face Atelier Ultra Foundation is so sweat and smudge-proof that Madonna decrees that all of her dancers wear it on tour. It also has the added bonus of feeling weightless. Peter Thomas Roth make a translucent, powdered sunscreen called ‘Instant Mineral’ that comes in a portable brush container, which can be applied over make up for a simple on-the-go SPF30 solution whenever you need it. Paul Labrecque’s Straight Finish is a light product that makes your hair behave like a nun on Sunday EVEN in high humidity, no frizz!

3. Poolside Glamour
This is when you really want your body to be looking its best, and that means preparation. Sunday Riley Disrobe Body Lotion reduces crêpey-ness and increases elasticity, improving overall skin texture and firmness. They also do a product called Liquid Diet, a combo of diuretic and anti-inflammatory ingredients help drain retained fluid to achieve a more svelte silhouette. PureTan Self Tanners are Miranda Kerr’s go-to before flashing the flesh, they create such a beautiful tone the only make-up you’ll need is mascara. The top-seller in Japan is called DJV Fibrewig which adds about 30% length, is sweat and oil-proof for the perfect flirty flutter.

After towel-drying, smooth a tiny amount of Rahua Finishing Treatment into your hair to stop any humidity-inspired frizz and get out there early for the best spot to show it all off.
